WHAT IS MIPS?
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is a sliding system inside the helmet. It is designed to rotate within the helmet and therefore slow or reduce the impact energy acting on the brain, helping to reduce head injuries caused by rotational impacts.

WHY IS MIPS IMPORTANT?
When a head rotates rapidly and suddenly stops, rotational acceleration can cause high levels of tension on brain tissue. The stretching of tissue caused by these movements can cause various types of brain injuries. MIPS is designed with the intent of addressing rotational acceleration resulting from impact.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
MIPS uses a glide system that moves inside the helmet, mimicking the brain's protection system. This layer is designed to rotate within the helmet with the intent of potentially slowing or reducing the amount of energy transferred to or from the head. Science tells us that if we can reduce the strains associated with rotational acceleration, we could reduce the risk and severity of brain injuries.
