On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the market launch in 1982, the 105 series receives the latest update with Shimano's electronic Di2 shifting technology. While maintaining the standard price level, the precise shifting function, the carefully adjusted gear ratios and the reliable brake system become accessible to an even wider circle of road cyclists. In keeping with the tradition of its predecessors, the current 105 is also equipped with leading technologies – such as the Wireless cockpit – and first-class functions of the Dura Ace and Ultegra series, to allow its riders to discover the road in a way new, every day.
With the switch of Shimano 105 components to the 12-speed gear system, the gear steps of the cassette are also correspondingly smaller. In this way, the fine and revised gradation of the CS-R7100-12 sprocket set not only guarantees optimal acceleration in all situations, but also excellent efficiency, so that pedaling energy is not wasted.
Even under maximum load, with the CS-R7100 it is possible to make shifts faster, but at the same time so smooth that the gear changes are hardly noticeable. With a ratio of 11 to 34 teeth, neither flat sprints nor steep climbs are a hindrance. Additionally, the 12-speed cassette is also compatible with previous 11-speed freehub bodies from Shimano.
